how do you know there is a remote?
Something controls that relay it (relay) has at least 2 more wires.

3 inch zone lift. Fox 2.0 shocks. 35 inch nitto ridge grapplers. Bushwacker flat fenders. No name steel bumpers front and back for now.
Why dont you just rip out the wires and start over??? Instead of trying to figure out somebody else's assed up mess just start from the light that's already mounted and go from there. Wire it to the battery... wire up a switch and then put the switch where it's easily accessible for when you "need" it. Seems pretty simple to me.

That's what i said. Pull wires and start over. Relays are NOT remote controlled.
I give up. :annoyed:Good luck dude.

I would have just re-wired it to begin with but I don't want to leave any other wires installed that aren't factory... and I haven't found where they go yet. There are some that go under the dash on the drivers side that I haven't traced completely yet and I don't want to simply cut and abandon them. Once I get the Jeep up north I will be able to check into it more since I will be in 80-85F instead of 105-110F.

Interesting to learn that the relay couldn't be remote controlled.... sure seems like there should be a switch somewhere in that case... but as I said when I get the Jeep to the cooler country I will investigate more. It looks like a professional install so I doubt that it was simply not finished. But stranger things have been found on other cars I have had.

    Thanks for the help.

I mentioned to confirm voltage on wiring for a reason... that is - trying to chase this down a is hunt but chasing it down if it does not work to begin with. And all that room makes this much easier...

I like the don't want to leave cut wires type of thinking.... Ever see a CJ after several owners ? :annoyed:

If you need a couple wiring harnesses, let me know. I have some that are still new in the packaging, that way you can start fresh if you like. Just let me know. Im in Tempe, and not asking for anything for them.

OK, now that I have the Jeep in cooler climate, I did some looking and found that the wires for the light bar that go into the cabin end with the plug seen on the attached picture. It looks like it was plugged into something at one time - it has scratches and had a bit of grease on it.... I haven't found where it plugged in yet.

Does it look familiar to anyone? Any idea what I should be looking for that it would plug into? If the original is still there I would like to use it.

At this point it will be easy to cut that plug off and install a switch. I am going back out to see if I can jumper the wires and get the light to come on.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Follow that wire found in the cabin through the fire wall. The other end usually connects to a relay.

Yes, there is a relay by the battery that this connects to. What seems to be missing is a switch inside (or whatever this plug connected to). I will add a switch and mount it on the dash. Looks like an easy thing to do on the driver's side. Not much under the dash over there.

That white connector with 3 connections found in the cabin is probably for a lighted switch

Make sure the connections on the relay are connected correctly...

Haven't tried jumping yet. What do you think - blue for the light in a switch, black and white for power to the relay?

I'd like to see that WHIP light rocker switch installed. Where do you plan to install the switch?

I think on the left side of the dash. There isn't much behind there.
