Want to change the color of my 79 CJ. Plan to stay in the color offerings of the original 79’s. Does moving from original color to another color (even when in the same years color offerings) impact resale values?

Welcome @pauljb722 ...in general changing colors could impact resale values on vehicles but in the case of the CJ one that's in good rust-free well maintained condition etc might actually be a positive as good ones are getting harder to find. Quality restoration goes along way in my book.

Welcome to the forum @pauljb722 . Agreed. I don't think it would hurt resale Value. And the fact that your plan is to keep it in the same color that was offered at the time. Is an awesome idea. But, I've also seen where a vehicle was painted a color that wasn't offered for that vehicle. And it brought a higher sell price. All depends on what a particular buyer is looking for.
But hey. Post up some Jeep Porn. We like Jeep pics. :)

You could get your CJ painted, but consider your future plans for it. Like going four wheeling is not to good on preserving paint. Although I have seen some Jeep owners do quite good with repairing dents and scratched paint.

I'm in the same boat. I bought an all original '78 CJ7 304 auto that's yellow. not my first choice, it's all original paint that's in decent condition and 100% rust free as well. I'd like to change the color but it goes against my better judgement. not sure what to do.
