i am a new member to this forum. I recently bought a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a straight 6 engine. Last week it began to overheat. I checked the water/antifreeze level in the radiator and it was ok. My mechanic suggested I check the connections on the radiator fan. I did all appears to be ok. I even checked the fuze box. All ok. Am i missing something? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

do the fans come on at temp @220Deg F?

Next thought if fan is working - a new thermostat.

Welcome @Tommy3sons ...the JGC is a new-to-you used vehicle with unknown maintenance records. I'm guessing the JGC never overheated during the test drive. Preventative maintenance should be scheduled for various engine fluids but the leading one at the moment is the cooling system. Start testing/inspecting radiator cap>fan operation>thermostat>water pump>radiator> fresh coolant mix, etc.

Welcome to the forum @Tommy3sons . Great suggestions made above.
I had a 2000 XJ that I had a remaned motor dropped in it. A inline 6, 4.0L. Basically same motor you have. And had over heating issues with. I replaced the 220 thermostat with a 190. And it did help. It opens up sooner, and the fan will kick on sooner.
