Where do I find the type of manual transmission I have on my TJ?
I want to change out the fluid...
When I looked at a capacities chart, it mentioned 4 different manual transmissions, all with different capacities and oil requirements....
Is there a place to go to find out what is in your particular Jeep?
    Thanks, everyone!

Why do you need to know? Your friendly local jeep deler can help with parts if you bring your VIN number for a build sheet check. Anyway my info shows 2 styles...

The 4 cylinder would have had the AX-5.
The 6 cylinder would have had the NV-3550.

    Thanks !
    You guys are great!!
I want to change the fluid before winter and want to get the capacity and correct type of fluid before I do.
Some YouTubers are saying you can use 10w-30 in the tranny...
    Do you agree?

If it's the NV-3550 Redline MTL fluid would be good. It is the AX-5 Redline MT-90. Many also recommend Pennzoil Synchromesh.
They are GL4 specified for the brass synchros.
Chrysler has also approved 10w30 motor oil for use in the manual transmissions.

    Thanks Guys!
    It's a NV-3550.
I changed out the fluid today. It was a beautiful sunny day in New England....81 degrees! Go Summer!
Anyway, I may have gone a little overboard because I ended up using Royal Purple Synchromesh. I figured I wouldn't be changing it out again anytime soon, so I justified the price...
A noticeable difference in the shift. Third doesn't fight me anymore and first slides right in...
( I made sure I pulled the fill plug out first ! )
Thanks for all the help. The diagram really helped!
