    HIDprojectors.com review

I purchased some fog lights from this place and here was my experience.

    - building materials included silicone and electric tape. Literally looks homemade. Not what I expected for almost $500 for the plane jane lights without halos or other 'cool' stuff. Depending on the cool factor, some can cost over $1000 for fogs (wtf!).

    - did not plug and play as advertised. I called them and they sent me a new harness. It was the same as the one that did not fit. They sent a 3rd, identical one. I finally BOUGHT one at a local shop with the right plug and was able to hook them up.

    - they flicker bad and are unusable. They refused to send me error cancelers stating I didn't need them, even though their install diagram clearly illustrates error cancelers in it and I was obviously getting errors without them.

    - the projectors are not adjusted properly. HID lights have a distinct cutoff line and should be as horizontal as possible. Only one was horizontal and another was probably at 35 degrees. This may be my fault as I have an aftermarket bumper. However my previous fogs went from the OEM to aftermarket bumper with no adjustment issues.

    - one of the projectors fell out of place. One day I noticed it seemed that one projector was facing down inside the housing. I found that the projector had come loose and fell out of place. They'd been installed without use for about a month by this time.

    - they cannot be adjusted. Once installed they must be permanently epoxied into place. I didn't like this idea before purchasing but I figured what the heck. Now I realize this should have been a red flag not to spend $500 on them.

    - they have headlight projectors instead of that of a fog light. The difference is the beam pattern. There is a driving beam pattern and there is also a fog light beam pattern. So even if they did work properly they would be useless in bad weather as they are basically headlights installed where the fog lights go. I also couldn't imagine looking that stupid as to driving with 4 headlights on.

I've met some happy customers so I don't know. Maybe this was an isolated event and they totally fucked up on my order.

However, those that do like them also aren't very particular about certain things. What I mean is that they don't really research anything and don't really care about functionality. They see something pretty and they buy it. And these lights sure are pretty when you factor in the angel eyes, demon eyes, halos, strobes, blinker function, color changing LEDs, etc.

One buddy is still happy with them even tho he had to change the lenses after they dulled in less than a year. That's not acceptable when he played $1100ish. But he's happy with them sooo.

Overall I can't recommend them. The dude there seems pretty cool and some people are happy with the product but I just can't recommend anything that cost almost $500 and is sealed with silicone and electric tape. Especially after all the other issues I had.

JW speaker makes fogs that are more affordable than their headlights. They have a nice beam pattern too.

Morimoto also makes an excellent fog for a very good price.

If you want HID like I did I'd suggest putting it together yourself as there are no places to buy them complete but here.

If all you want is the cool factor and can afford it then these are the lights for you.

    Hope this helps.

Nice review on these lights from HIDprojectors. After your last experience with lighting issues thought you would go towards a known plug+play unit but HIDs are in your build plans. With one of the projectors falling out in less than a month that should be covered by warranty from HIDprojectors.

Actually these are the lights I had issues with a few months back and continued to have more problems with after I was finally able to get them to plug into my jeep. I like to wait a few months to a year before making a review.

Yes you are right. And I am leaning towards the JW speaker or the morimoto now. KC hilites also recently made new fogs that are amber, the color I'd like for fogs.

Or I might just make my own HID fog lights. I found that it doesn't require retrofitting since there are waterproof projectors that will fit right where the fog lights go. I still like this idea because I can use a bixenon projector, plus I have a harness already installed to power them. Would just need an HID kit.

HID can be a little more of a PIA to work with but when done correctly it can also be many times better than LED. Here's my setup now with HIDs. The spread is even with no dark spots or shadows. And the width is just stupid. If I was in pitch dark and was in the center of a 20 lane highway I could see all the lanes from left to right and even further if there are reflectors. 20190220_080253.jpg

All the barrels in this video are reflecting my headlights and not the vehicles in front of me. You can tell by the sharp cutoff moving up and down on the reflectors as I drive thru bumps. Best part is that as bright as they are I don't get people flashing me due to the same cutoff line that prevents other drivers from being blinded. They look like regular HID lights for incoming traffic.

Of course the pic or video don't do the real thing justice.

great !! with all the untried parts it always great to get a review.

taking names and kicking ass - we need MORE of this here.

Again why do we not put advertisement into a separate 'topic' so I will know where they all are.. wont have to scroll to find chrome antenna streamers they make my jeep so cool

Check out BD Squadrons which are available in amber-wide and have either 26 watt or 40 watt power. One nice advantage are the DIY interchangeable lens system.

Lesson learned. I have JW speakers all around. No complaints, no issues, no harness problems. BAM.....just saying.

500 bucks for "fog" lights ?....... I'll stay home when it's foggy first . That's more than my winch !

I know but the lighting industry is ridiculous. If it's not overpriced it doesn't work and if it works it's overpriced.

I mean there are LED headlights for hundreds less than JW but some are even worse than the stock jk lights and it's pretty hard to get worse than that.

Actually we don't have much fog here if any at all. What we do have is dust and a lot of it. It's like moon powder here. And when we trail it's difficult to see even just a foot ahead sometimes. Hence the need for a good pair of fog lights.

I wheel in good weather or not so good and take my jeep beyond the mall so I try not to get the cheapo stuff and have to depend on it in the middle of the desert. I honestly thought I was getting OEM quality with what the lights cost. But I was duped :/

Granted. JWs are not cheap by any stretch. But I work 25 miles from home. And fog is an issue at times. I don't use them often. But it's nice to know when I have to. They the best. I would rather pay a few extra bucks for quality. Not to mention. I put only the best I can afford ,at the time, on my Jeep. And at some point, I do tend to upgrade. But the JWs. I went with the best at the time.
