Next Project... Sway Bar Replacement and Control Arm Bushing Replacement

I pretty much know how to replace the CV axle, just pull out and put a new one in... but I've never touched sway bar links or control arm bushings. How do I remove and replace the sway bar links and control arm bushings?

 

What size is the upper control arms bolt ?

 

the axle is a needed repair IIRC.
and the sway bar ok should be fast -
now the A Arms, do we have to tackle them?
the components will likely need an alignment when replaced, and getting the bushings in will likely need a press and you are working in the street - 20+year old parts expect the unexpected.
Any other issues that may be a priority? The trans wiring?

 

Yes the CV axle is in need of repair. As far as the control arms I'm not sure but I do know that the control arm bolt on the passenger side is bent and by the looks of the driver side, the passenger side bolt seems to be backwards too (see pics, first pic is passenger side, second pic is driver side)

 

@Awrench as far as having the bushings pressed, are you talking about the control arm bushings? Is there not a way I can shade tree press them or am I better off just buying whole new control arms that already have the bushings pressed in?

quick thought - that is unnaturally clean looking, look at the torque head fastener no cleaning needed and the old bushing looks somewhat newer.

If one of them is bent do you have a replacement? As replacing bushings in the new unit would be a pratice run at removing and reinstalling bushings,

I have found the bolt often rusts seizes into the bushing sleeve. As I said hinted at expect the worst.

 

New control arms with bushings bypasses the need to get a shop to press them on.

 

If the bolts are bent or if there was looseness/movement compare with other control arm mounts to make sure the holes have not been wallowed out.

 

So long story short I just need to buy all new control arms ? Lower and upper?
