78 small V8. Clutch assembly has been replaced two times . Not sure what all has been replaced but disc and pressure plate for sure. Grabs fiercely when engaging clutch at startup in first gear. Wham !! Engages OK on first start up of the day then grabs every time. Recently very loud clatter for a bit only one time, so far!

Either the wrong or bad parts or contaminated clutch parts or misaligned assembly. Go back to the installer.

We are on the second set of new parts from the US and a good manufacturer. No reman stuff. I live in Old Mexico where everyone is a mechanic !! Guy that has done the work was shop manager for a Ford dealer in the US and has done good work in the past.

What could be misaligned?? the Jeep was stolen a bit ago and got buried in the mud and recovered. Some parts were replaced then, have to check. Jeep is a friend's , not mine. think it was the tranny and maybe the trans case. Clutch for sure.

What do you make of the problem not appearing on the first start up of the day?? that's the big mystery and clue to what the problem is I think but ??? temperature comes to mind but ???

Was a flywheel resurface or replacement done?

Do not know but will find out. Might that explain the startup issue?
