Ok so what triggers the metal grinding noise? when braking? at idle? rolling down the road? Did the noise appear after the recent brake service? Brakes and rotors are the usual suspects for metal grinding noise.

Forgot to update on what my problem was. My transfer case ran out of fluid, this is my first all 4wd vehicle so I had no clue about the transfer case needing fluid. Got a new transfer case but after I replaced it, it was still making a grinding noise. Then I realized that my front drive shaft went out and had it replaced as well. She drives good as new.
