I have a 97 wrangler and for some reason my cluster panel is not working. I've checked all fuses and grounds. When the jeep is off you look at the panel the e brake light is on. When you turn the key on the dash lights come on. Then soon as you pull the switch for the headlights the dash lights shut off then the left turn signal light comes on but does not flash. Then you put the turn signal on it flashes real fast. I'm out of ideas. Im not sure if this would effect it or not but the wire harrest that plugs into the headlight switch is melted a little bit in the middle of the plug so would that cuz the big headache that I'm having?

This is a common issue on this generation Cherokee and Wrangler. Many time it is due to the connector on the back of the cluster not making good contact. So much so that there was a TSB and an updated part available through the dealership.
I currently have this issue with my 93 again.... but I recently did the heater core and as much as I tried to make sure it had a good connection it appears to have come loose and is on my list of things to work on this weekend.... at least this doesn't require removing the whole dash. :D

My battery is junk also would it cause the gauges not to work and my dash lights to act up?

Get the battery condition checked out at any Advance/Autozone auto parts stores or buy a new one to eliminate a variable and a no-start surprise this winter.
