Lifted and AX15 swap so far
I swapped a motor from a 97 zj into a 96 xj. The transmission is an AX15 out of a 1990 Jeep. Went to start it after a motor swap and it sounds like something is binding. I used a clutch and flywheel for a 1990 because that is the year transmission. Would I need a fly wheel for a 96? Or a 97? One Jeep buddy said I need a motor year specific fly wheel, can anyone back this up? Any help is appreciated to get me back on the road

I would use a 96 XJ flywheel, it has the timing marks that the computer is looking for.
