De-badging

    Hey Guys,
    New Jeep owner here. I’m thinking of removing the raised badges on my Cherokee Trailhawk where they do not sit in a body well. Does anyone have experience with this & how does it look? My intent is to do it early so as to not have to do a ton of buffing to remove the under-badge grime and adhesive. Recommendations for methods & cleansers would be helpful too.

    Any badging is pretty easy to remove with fishing line and a heat gun. Fashion some handles for the line or use your fingers. Then heat the area until warm to the touch. Get the line back there and shimmy behind the badge until it's gone. Eraser wheel then that sweet 3m perfectz it and youd be good.

    Pretty much what @Clean_93 said. Use a little lube on the fishing line to help it cut thru the adhesive. I used WD-40 with good-ish results.

    As mentioned start with WD-40 before using harsher solvents that can damage the finish

    Besides removing the adhesive once the badge is off, is there any buffing or polishing needed for the paint underneath?

    Unless the badging has been on for many years and sun-baked on no extra buffing should be needed.

    I used waxed Dental Floss to remove the Badge and Jeep letters on the grille. Used 91% Rubbing Alcohol to remove the glue then waxed the areas.
