Wondering if the cigarette lighter stays hot on 2006 TJ. Son away at college with Jeep and didn’t drive or start for a week+ and battery was drained and wouldn’t start. He keeps a portable Bluetooth connector for phone and music plugged in. I’m assuming a combination of sitting in the cold over a week and the adaptor still plugged in and drawing may be the culprit. He just bought and installed a new battery about 6 weeks ago. Thoughts? Does it stay hot? I can’t test it because it’s not here. Thanks. Jeff

Agree with your assessment as plugged in devices can drain the battery ultimately affecting battery life. Depending upon how the radio was installed it too could be part of the parasitic drain. For now removal of those devices should help. It is ez to stick something in the cig lighter to test for power without the key like an 12V air pump or 12V light. Some people actually like some cig lighters to have continuous power versus switched. Look up parasitic power loss to learn about mysterious power drains but I think your situation is not necessarily mysterious.

Thanks for the reply. I will have him plug in a phone charger or something with the ignition off to check it out. Thanks. By the way, radio is factory install/not modified, thats why i was wondering if that was standard from factory.
