My ‘95 4.0 quit after degreasing and subsequent rinsing off. It started up after rinsing but then had a moment of dieseling and then quit. It hasn’t run since.

I’ve tried a different PCM (from a salvage yard), replaced the CPS, and.......nuthin’.

Ideas? Anyone with similar problems? Any help is much appreciated!

Degreasing and rinse makes for a cleaner engine bay but perhaps some moisture reached critical ignition, points, wires etc. Don't think fuel would be an issue at this time just make sure the battery has max crank. Probably wouldn't jump to the PCM just yet.

Yep, I’m afraid some water got in where it shouldn’t be. I’ve read a lot on where it gets into the plug connection, especially at the PCM and wreaks havoc. A buddy mentioned that due to the short dieseling fit the cam position sensor might have gotten wet. I pulled the cap off the distributor a subsequently had the cam sensor come apart trying to remove it. Good ol’ 25 year-old stuck stuff. Got a sensor ordered. I’ll give it a try.

I’m cleaning the engine & bay up in prep for pulling it to start the long project of putting it all in the CJ. Can I get away with calling this a restomod???
