2013 3.6 oil capacity.

I have a new to me 2013 JKU. My internet research shows it takes 6 quarts with filter change (I don’t have the owners manual). But after five it’s showing full on the dipstick. I’m not new to oil changes. It was completely drained while level. I have warmed it up and rechecked the level. It’s showing full with the five quarts installed. The dipstick looks factory as does the tube. I’ve done a search but can’t find a thread discussing this. So I apologize if it’s already been asked and answered. Any help would be appreciated.

 

There is a 2013 JKU Owners Manual located on the net, although I would suggest a repair manual like what is available at an auto parts store.Going by what the dipstick says is not always correct.

 

Welcome @Wreckitralph ...2016 JK = 6 qt motor oil capacity with filter change. If the dipstick reads F run it for a period and check it again.
The filters for the 2012-2013 JK use MOPAR Part Number MO-744
Stick with the Mopar oil filter and don't use filters for the JK 2014 and up unless the previous owner made changes.

Thanks! I did locate an owners manual on the Mopar site. It says 6 quarts as well. And I actually reviewed this particular guide before I changed the oil. I believe I’ve come to the conclusion that the dipstick is inaccurate. Even though I find it difficult to believe a stock newer vehicle would have an inaccurate dipstick reading of an entire quart. Again, thank you for the comments.

 

Welcome to the forum @Wreckitralph . Mopar, as awesome as their products are. They have been know to report false fluid levels. I recently replaced my tranny fluid. I drained 2 1/2 quarts out of my 016 auto JK. And replaced almost 6. And believe me. I checked, rechecked, and checked again. And I researched it. And sure enough. They have a habit of shorting our Jeeps of fluids. . Really......

 

That is something the originating dealer who sold vehicle was responsible to check all fluid levels on the pre-delivery inspection. Can never count on fluid levels being correct straight from factory.
