Stuck in 4wd?? 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

    2012 grand Cherokee limited
    Hi all, looking for some diagnostic help please.
    I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited and have done a limited amount of off road driving. Headed down some scrubbed out muddy/boggy track the other day & now it seems the jeep is permanently in 4wd. I only noticed two days later turning a tight radius. The control inside is on auto and I cannot press 4wd low or select the neutral either ( neither illuminate). No 4wd service alarm or anything. I've tried driving straight for some time, changing between reverse and drive, looked for damage underneath and all to no avail... Has anyone come across a problem like this before?
    I've also Disconnected the battery hoping it would reset but nothing...
    Please help if you can
