IIHS crash test of 2019 Jeep 4 door Wrangler: hits a barrier at 40 miles an hour conducted by the Insurance Institute, and tipped onto it’s side, the IIHS had to downgrade the Jeep’s safety rating to “marginal”. With a center of gravity higher than most vehicles on the road I'm not surprised of the results. Hope the insurance companies don't use the results to boost surcharges for owning a Jeep. Impressed that the thin light-weight doors stayed closed.

I tipped my CJ over once, although I was going a lot slower. Had some friends with me on the trail and we put it back on all fours again, then finished the trail and no damage except for bending the side mirror mount. The few scratches I got just blended in the all the previous scratches.

When on the trail, if you don't get the crap scared out of you a few times you are really not jeeping.

Back in the 70's CBS did a hit piece on CJ-5's rolling over. Turns out one of their staffers was driving way too fast and lost control. The result was the end of the 5 and the wide track CJ7&8. You can flip, roll or tumble any vehicle if you WANT to. That exactly what CBS did. They hired an engineer to figure out how to do it. One of the things they got called on was putting an outrigger on the side to be tipped upon. They said it was for safety but neglected to mention it completely changed the center of gravity.

I suspect this test was rigged as well. And what's with the white on the left front tire? I'd bet someone did a computer simulation to figure out exactly where to hit the barrier to get the "desired" result.

Yeah, I also hope that insurance companies do nothing with these videos, hah. Talking of those, if you're interested about insurance cases, especially about licenses, I would recommend this blog ( over here: https://www.americaninsurance.com/canadian-drivers-license-valid-us ), cause it explains a lot of details about it.
