I just installed a set of Crown HD leaf springs in my YJ. Unfortunately the two pinion angle shims between the axle and the springs fell apart when I dropped the springs (very corroded). I managed to temporarily put the pieces back in when installed the new springs. The new springs brought the jeep back to it's correct ride height plus 1/2". A road test produced "0" vibration.I was told the factory shims could be either 2 or 4 degrees. Does anyone know for sure what is the angle of the original shims?

If you are speaking of what came from the factory, I do not believe there was any. I find no reference to any in the original parts catalogs.

Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
Some YJs did come with Wedge shims from the factory. My 94 has them. I don't know what degree it is. If I had to guess I would say it was a 2* shim.

Well, I am glad I did not too definitive a statement on them. I learned a long time ago that just because I don't know about it does not mean it does not exist. hahaha Thanks for correcting me Peter. :)

Anyway.....I saw limited availability on 2* but 2.5* and higher shims seem to be all over the web.

Thanks for the info fellas I really appreciate it. I went down to a local spring shop yesterday and spoke to one of the techs. (It's amazing what info you can get with coffee and DD) He was aware of the shim and says that they frequently fall apart when they do springs on Jeeps. He showed me the ones he stocks which are identical to the ones I had. He's only seen them used with stock springs and said that some Jeeps come with them and some without. In his opinion, on stock set-ups, they're there to affect caster more than pinion angle. 2 degrees is the magic number. I've already ordered a set of steel one from Quadratec. By the way these guys also install both aftermarket leaf and coil spring lift systems for customers which he said usually come with the manufacturer supplied thicker (angled) shims depending on the lift.
