Feeling every bump in the road...anything can be done to suspension?

    None, bought it anyway tricked out
    Hi all. My name is Greg, and I bought a tricked out 1967 Willys Jeep a couple years ago. I have just finished repairing and painting the body and I'm getting ready to start ramming around with it!
    Dumb question due to lack of offroad experience. I can feel EVERY SINGLE bump in the road, and when I get onto dirt roads, my jeep jumps, bumps, and rattles around excessively. I understand that offroading comes with some of that, but it seems like way more than expected.
    Am I supposed to feel everything in the road in a serious off roader? Or is it possible that the suspension system needs tuned or altered?

    Welcome @GreenJeepGreg ...only thing I can relate with your issue is having owned a YJ. Short wheel base Jeep with leaf-spring suspensions will make you feel every bump on the road. The '67 Willys is certainly a jeep to own but I think you're going to have to get used to the ride. Can you explain whats "tricked out" on the Willys? There may be standard or slightly better riding leaf-spring choices out there. And post a few pics of this "tricked out" Willys.

    I would start with using as little air as you can get away with in the tires. Shocks have a lot to do with the ride, especially in the dirt over rocks, so the expensive off road shocks seem to work best for me. A quality set of leaf springs can help also, especially if you still have the original springs. I have witnessed a lot of Jeep rollovers, some guys drive them home with no damage and some get on a trailer with a trip to the emergency ward.

    It's a short wheel base Jeep. Accept it and move on.

    Years ago most of us had two sets of tires. Softer riding ones for on road and hell for strong aggressively treaded set for off. didn't really make that big a difference but we told ourselves it did.
