As opposed to open diffs or lockers? Just curious if there is any merit to having lsd's in situations involving snow/mud/sand.

IMO the OEM limited slip has limited effectiveness in mud or sand but can be useful in snow and ice on the road. The Detroit Trutrac is a superior limited slip that uses helical gear diff rather than clutches as found with OEM.

In the front of my CJ, I have an air locker which gives me great control. Most noticeably when I have been on the slickrock in Moab. When I need it I just hit the switch and its locked, no pansy ass limited slips.

Man my pockets just aren't deep enough for lockers, even on stock dana axles. But yeah, that's the way to go when Moab is home away from home.

There are a lot of great trails out there, some even long distance, like overnighters that do not require traction aiding devices. Even Moab has them.
