You could look at getting your oem seats reupholstered. One issue guys have with the CJ5 is fitting comfortably into the thing, especially if they are on to large or tall side. This requires moving the seats back by modifying the wheel wells. Aftermarket seats set taller with more padding making leg and belly clearance making it tight with the oem steering wheel and you will sit taller in the vehicle. Many aftermarket seats are quite comfortable but larger than the oem seats. Bestop makes a replacement set of risers that are about an inch or so lower than stock height making aftermarket seats fit better, some guys make their own risers for aftermarket seats. Popular brands that I know of are Corbeau, Smittybuilt, and Bestop. I got a set of Bestop Trail Max II and had issues with setting taller and too far forward. I installed a smaller steering wheel, Bestop risers without the seat adjusters and drilled new holes in the risers to fit. They are quite comfortable, but were not simple bolt in fit. I am 6' tall and have a CJ7

I took a set of CJ7 high back buckets from Ebay and had them re-upholstered. It was less to go that route then it was to buy after market seats - not to mention the aformentioned heigth difference on the aftermarket seats. The CJ7 seats were a nice upgrade to the old low back CJ5 seats and fit perfectly.
