Squeak on the right side, frequency increases the faster I go

There's a repetitive squeak coming from the right side when driving, can't tell if it's from the front or back.
The faster the car goes, the faster the squeaks occur.

It started at least 6 months ago and I thought it went away but I was wrong - with the radio off on a quiet smooth road, I can hear it.
Sometimes the noise either goes away or gets too quiet for me to hear, it's never very loud.

It drives fine and has 80,000 miles.
Guessing it's been going on for a few thousand miles, maybe on and off.

What do you think is causing the noise ?
Could it be dangerous to drive with it ?

 

Well hell you have been driving it for six months must not be too dangerous

have you had the brakes checked lately??

What kind of vehicle how many miles what year?

Universal joints,CV joints,backing plate rubbing against the rotor, could be a number of things more information would help maybe for some of us to diagnose.

Have someone stick their head out the right side window as you drive to determine weather the noise comes from the front or back. Then determine if the noise is coming from the suspension or wheels. Its not rocket science.

 

The noise is gone again.
Does that narrow the possibilities down ?

Why thank you, LYFZGOOD, I will give it my best shot. It sounds similar to a squeaky door I had and it quit squeaking also. The squeak just wore itself out. Since it did speed up as the vehicle went faster it very well could have been on the disk brake against the rotor. I have gotten small rocks stuck in the disk brake assembly and they just wore out with scratches on the rotor. It was more of a scraping noise though. A suspension and brake check would be a good idea to search for any possibilities along with just seeing how it all works.
