2018 Sahara JL Rear Camera Question

    I installed a 2.5 inch lift with 35" tires. I also installed a Smittybilt rear tire adapter that allows a 35" tire to fit on the rear using the OEM mount. I noticed that when I use the rear camera it beeps the entire time because it appears to be catching the outer lip of the wheel. So did I mount something incorrectly or do I have to get a different camera setup? Any insight much appreciated.

    Welcome @Friscomail ...the Smitty tire adapter I assume is a HD hinge like my Teraflex HD hinge on my '16 which I also use the stock tire carrier mount. Seems the edge of the larger tire is the issue rather than the installation. Not owning an '18 is the camera able to be adjusted or mounted further out? Hang on as we do have some JL owners that could be more specific for your issue.

    That would be great and thanks for helping out. the 18 camera locks into place using a torx head (like) screw. Not sure I can adjust that.....

    I know this is an old post and maybe you've solved the problem already but if not, here is the problem. The tire on the spare tire carrier is interfering with the camera and/or your backup sensors. The stock tire and the factory bracket kept the tire high enough that it didn't cause a problem. When you went to the Smitty tire carrier and a larger tire it creates a sensor problem. The solution is to purchase and oversized spare tire relocation bracket. Rough Country sells one that mounts between the tailgate and the tire carrier itself. This raises the tire up another 2 1/2 inches (I think) and then voila no more complaints when backing up.
