1975 JEEP CJ5 - Is it possible to install an OBD II connector???

    I am buying a '75 CJ5 to restore. I would like to include a HUD display that includes gauge readings. However, the ones I have seen require an OBDII connector. My question is: Is it possible to adapt/install an OBDII connector to a '75 CJ5??? Thanks for any and all advice!!!

    Anything is possible but obviously you will need much more than the connector. IMO could be a very big job collecting all the integrated electronics from the donor vehicle.

    Sure it is possible, actually quite easy. Once you get all the parts you will be needing. My CJ has an OBD1 connector that is attached to an aftermarket fuel injection kit. By using the connecter I can tell what malfunctions there are through various codes that are being sent to the computer. Sounds like you will be doing the wire work yourself. Hopefully your soldering and wiring skills are up to it. The CJ you have is a bit weak in my opinion on the original wiring design to satisfy the bean counters where it was made and to help in keeping the CJ simple and inexpensive. Good luck with being the owner of an old CJ5.
