Hello all. I have a 1975 CJ5 that I recently purchased. Previous owner did a lot of work restoring the Jeep and put on a 4 inch lift. Literally feels like you’re driving right on frame with no give at all. I’ve been in many old 4 wheelers, it should not be this way. Have to drive under 5mph just to cross train tracks in town on a normal road and still get jostled. Please any help or ideas would be appreciated. I think maybe he moved the spring hangers too far apart? Does anyone have a picture of where they should be on the rear?

4 in lift but will be lowering
Hello, I likewise just bought a 75 CJ5 with a 4in lift and 3 in body lift. You cant go over 35 mph because the steering is uncontrollable. It goes all over. The only visible issue is the lower steering shaft coupler is clearly shot. No power steering. The lastest PO added new Rancho shocks and steering stabilizer in an attempt to help the situation to limited or no avail. It has Interco TSL Thornbird 33x12.5 tires in good shape. I thought maybe the Pittman arm was not correct but it has a good drop in it to march the lift it seems. I am looking for where to start to diagnose the issue. Mine is also so stiff it is like it has no strings an all. I had a 67 CJ5 2" lift and 31 in tires and it was much better to drive.
