In honor of Halloween does anyone have any real ghost stories they would like to share?

I will start with one that was relayed to me by my Father.
When he was in college at ENMU in Portales, NM he lived in a house with 2 friends. One night while studying 1 friend was in a room at the end of the hall, my Father and another friend were making sandwiches in the kitchen at the other end of the hall.
At the door way to the kitchen, they saw what appeared to be glitter fall and smoke rise from the floor and then disappear. They hurried up, grabbed their food and went to head down the hall towards the room where their other friend was, at the door way to the kitchen the temp dropped at least 10° for about a foot wide. They studied for while and when they went to head back to the kitchen the cold area had moved to the door of the room they were in. My Father said he would for no apparent reason sit straight up in bed from a dead sleep to see glitter fall and smoke rise at the foot of his bed. They often found stuff randomly misplaced, such as their toothbrush in the living room and such. Though the house was a 4 bedroom house they could never keep a 4th roommate after they witnessed the ghost. When they finally moved out my Father confronted the landlord, he told her that she would probably think he was crazy but they witnessed a ghost in the house. She told him that there had been reports in the house next door but they were the first to report it in the house they were living in. The land and houses had previously been owned by the landlords mother who had died there and the best they could come up with was that she was still looking after her property.

More to follow but will give other's a chance.

How long did they wind up living there? Brief temperature drops seems to be a common pattern

When I was about 6 yrs old living in Lubbock, TX, I was laying in bed and heard a distant drumming sound. I tapped my knuckle against the headboard in a tune, the drumming sound played it back to me. Ran to my father's room and he was asleep, the next morning I followed him out to the back porch to feed/water the dogs and in the exact middle of the back porch right outside my window was a plastic plant pot, turned upside down as if someone had been using it as a drum. The back porch was completely covered except for the back door or through the back yard where the dogs were.

I like to believe that I had a friendly ghost encounter one evening last year. My son wanted his grandfather's vehicle after his passing to remember him as he felt this would help him recall and appreciate his time with him. One evening I drove the Toyota Highlander to check on a rental property and accidentally locked the door and left the vehicle with the engine running with my phone and wallet inside. I borrowed the tenants phone to reach out to an out of state brother for any extra keys but he stated the only key was the one I had. I started brainstorming some ideas such as letting the vehicle run out of gas even though it was parked on the street in the wrong direction or breaking one of the smaller side windows. I jiggled the door handle in vain as I started to run out of reasonable ideas. The tenant was standing next to me as I jiggled the door handle again. We both heard the door unlock as if someone inside had pressed the unlock button.....

Fast forward about 15 years as I can't recall any particular encounter during that time....

About 2003, Living in a townhouse with my wife and oldest daughter just outside of Oklahoma city. We were about to leave the townhouse to go out to eat and the keys to my truck are missing. Now keep in mind I don't just sit them down anywhere, pretty much first thing after I walk in the door they are placed on the corner of my dresser along with my wallet. We looked on the floor around the dresser, under it, in it... interrogated the kid.. nothing. I grab the extra set and we leave. We return an hour or two later, I walk up stairs to put my keys and wallet on the dresser like I always do and sitting on the corner of my dresser are my other set of keys that were MIA before we left. Had my wife not helped me look for them, I am not sure she would have believed me.

Around 2008, living in our house out in the country, our 2nd child had recently been born and was sleeping in a bassinet on my wife's side of the bed.
One morning my wife thanks me for getting up and rocking the baby back to sleep.... except I never got up, didn't even know the baby was fussy.
Apparently someone sat down on the bed next to my wife and rocked the bassinet.

Last story, and we are going to jump back to when we were living in the townhouse. I saved this for last for a reason, it explains my last 3 experiences posted.
We were all upstairs, the wife and I were in the bedroom while our oldest daughter (2yrs old and only daughter at that time) was sitting outside the bedroom door at the stop of the stairs playing. She really started talking as if she was carrying on a conversation with someone. I ask her who she was talking to, she said "the pretty lady".

About a month later we were packing up to move, I came across a picture of my parents and showed it to my wife and daughter. My daughter points to my mother and says, "that's the pretty lady".
My mother died 21 years before my oldest daughter was even born.
This is when it clicked for us.
