Dakron Performance

Purchased Dakron Performance tailgate hinges to replace the worn out units on my 07 Sahara. Just got them in the Mail yesterday along with a new Terraflex vss5500 steering stabilizer. Hinges look great! MUCH heavier than stock with a clean, black powder coat. Hardware included. I am hoping to get them installed this weekend to stop that god awful racket coming from the rear every time I hit a bump or choppy pavement. Anyone have some suggestions on how to break the old torx screws loose? Painted over and seized up pretty solid. Pics to follow.

 

I recently removed all of mine off of my 94 YJ in prep for paint. I used an impact with an impact torx socket. A few I had to use a socket wrench. I also scraped the paint out with a pick if the torx bit wouldn't fit. I still had to drill 3 of them out. Don't use cheap torx bits. You're sure to strip something out (more drilling).

 

Not sure why the last three pics didn't rotate. The new hinges are much stronger than stock, look good, and most importantly, QUIET on the road when hittin uneven pavement. Quality kit.

I just replaced my hinges for the dakron ones.
What a difference. The clunking sound is gone. Should have done it sooner.
It’s a shame they are not as big as the originals. Had to paint. Luckily my jeep is black so matching the paint was easy.
Another downside is that there is no stop on the hinges so have to be careful not to hit the car next to me

 

Welcome @Aylmerfudd ...post a pic of your work. Never heard of Daron before. Where did you order them from and what triggered your decision? I have the Teraflex tire carrier/heavy duty hinge several years ago and they function great supporting a heavy spare tire.

 

Found them on Amazon for a little over 200$
Was looking to replace my worn tailgate hinges for a while and these look like they are well made.
