Great forum! I have a 75 cj 5 and the plastic clip or grommet that attaches the accelerator cable to the gas pedal broke. Is there a remedy for this other than buying a replacement cable? And can you find a replacement cable that doesn’t use plastic to hold the cable to the pedal? I appreciate the help!

A photo of the cable and the pedal attachment. I know for older model chevys there was a replacement grommet but I can’t seem to find anything for this type of cable. I would also like to get away from plastic is possible.

Welcome @Nevadaace ...my Wrangler is 41 years younger so my suggestion will be limited to a DIY repair otherwise check out Quadratec.com for parts. Perhaps you can mod a metal bracket to secure the cable with a plastic insert around the cable to avoid abrasion. For example I've done similar repairs when the seat adjuster cables slip out of brackets on the passenger seat rendering the seat unadjustable.
