Hey all, new to the forum. Hoping to find some answers here. Trying to fit a borla climber exhaust on the jl and I cannot make it happen. Double checked all part # and fitment requirements. Everything is proper according to the packaging. One thing I noticed that isn't on any of the install videos is some extra goods running up the center of the underbody. I cannot find what this is anywhere on the Google. Called the dealership that toad told me to look at Google. I have only found one pic online and it was another exhaust picture. If anybody can help me out as to what this is so I can either make this exhaust work or get a smaller muffler that would be huge...thanks all.

the shields are the least of your problems....

Am I correct this is a 2020 wrangler unlimited 3.6L?
Most important where is item #10 it appears MISSING. Diagram calls a CONVERTER but could it be a resonator... I am still looking.

Based off the pic that metal piece looks like a skid and only bolted on. If its protecting something important, I would not remove it for an exhaust project but would alter the exhaust to conform.

So it def appears to be a skid. But I cannot figure out how the life of me what it is protecting. It is foil wrapped lines going to a large box. The muffler outright won't fit so I'm trying to figure out what it is to help with fitment specs for next kit. Now also just curious lol. It's not on any of the underbody pics I can find except for this one.
@Awrench that's a stock photo. The jeep in question has a cat then resonatothen rear muffler. The cat back exhaust replaces the resonator with the muffler then runs a tailpipe to the back saving probably 30 lbs and adding some noise.

    Thx guys

Looks like part #1, if it’s an OEM skid it’s protecting something important. If I was in your situation I’d try tweaking the exhaust to conform.

Agree they do look like skid plates BUT they are called heat shields in manual. IDK
Would be good to see the underside of a STOCK jeep, the diagram has us guessing.

The exhaust should NOT make MORE noise!!!
And the photo above shows dumping exhaust UNDER vehicle, a no no.
