I'm lost. I've had my 91 cherokee for nearly 20 years and have never had this problem. I drove it about 5 days ago, parked it with no problems. Yesterday I went to use it and it won't start. Once in a while it tries but never accelerates. I thought maybe I was out of gas as my gauge doesn't work. I added gas and the tank is full.
This morning I crawled under it and opened the far end of the filter and gas trickled out. So the filter is not clogged. Plus I just changed it a couple years ago.
I can not figure this out. Is there a fuse I should be checking or what.
    Thanks in advance.

Which engine and is this throttle body or MFI ?

    BASICS -
first chack that there is spark at several plugs?
Check fuel pressure - use a gauge and post PSI.

You might try - with a helper spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid* iinto throttle body as helper tries to start jeep, Did it fire and try to run on the spray?

    * easy on the starting fluid - I prefere carb cleaner.

Its a 6 cylinder, 4.0, Fuel injector. I think it is the plugs. Will replace tomorrow. Haven't been replaced in a long time. I kind of use it as a ranch vehicle, so it gets neglected. Thanks for the input.

Changed plugs and no difference. Next step is distributor & rotor. I did change a corroded wire from the battery to the solenoid. Shouldn't I be able to turn the engine by jumping the solenoid terminals? I tried and nothing. No spark or click.
I might have to again check fuel. Acts like it is out of gas but the tank is full. I'll have to find the fuel line to the engine and see if gas is going to the engine. I did open the far end of the fuel filter and gas trickled out. May have to take the hose off and test.

If you found one corroded wire there could be another as well as the ground wire(s)

    why are you changing parts?
    I think we should regroup.
Be careful with fuel - on injected engines fuel PRESSURE with a gauge is way to check.
    Lets start again-
When key turned to starrt does engine spin ? Yes or No

if YES - is there spark at several plugs? wht is fuel pressure?

if No - clutch depressed, auto to P or N. Is there any clicking yes or no?

jeep is not getting electrical signal due to bad computer board. I got one from junk yard and it was good enough to send a signal and the car started up and ran as it should

Hope it is not that. Still working on my situation. Bought a plug tester and getting no spark. Checked distributor cap & rotor and they were a mess. Changed them but still won't start. Thinking its the distributor its self. Looks like the original and iffy. Will try the spark again tomorrow and go from there. Thanks for your input.

you have to have a plan and test BEFORE spending, OR are you a democrat?

    Jeeps are easy -
    when cranking to start
is there spark at several plugs? white snap of a spark not yellow.
Is there 12v at injectors ? either wire - and should pulse voltage.
What is fuel pressure use a gauge post PSI

    TIPS
The system will only supply 12v for @2 seconde if jeep does not start - so a 2 man job.
Try spraying carb cleaner or start fluid into TB as someone tries to start - did engine fire and ty to run on spray?
