Do you already have the Baofeng?
If not I would suggest saving a few more dollars and getting another good mobile 2m radio.
After you buy the radio, a mount, the battery eliminator, the hand mic, and the coax adapter extension you aren't too far off from the a good mobile.
Currently the Kenwood TM-281A, Yaesu FT-2980r, and Yaesu FTM-3100R are all under $145 right now.

Thanks for the info, the Baofeng was my first ham radio from years ago and I have all the accessories for it so it will do for now.
The JL is a work in progress so this would most likely be a temporary setup.

I have a Yaesu 3200DR, Yaesu fusion hand held, and a Icom 207 in use now.
    Thanks again.

IF you have everything already then by all means use it.
I started out with some UV-5r radios and one of them is still holding on some 7 years later. After spending much of it's life rolling around in the floorboard of my XJs it now resides on the side of my backpack I carried daily (when I actually left home to go to work). For $35 at the time I have got my monies worth out of it.
I tried using it for APRS but was not content with it's performance so I put a Yaesu FTM-3100 in it's place.

@Errickii if you are interested there is a net on Echolink every Friday evening. It is put on by Overland Bound so it isn't specific to Jeeps but topics of discussion include off road, camping, radios, gear, etc.
Time : 5:30PM Pacific Standard Time or 17:30 hours Pacific Standard Time
Where : Echolink Node 591550 (USA-GNG) known also as Grits N Gravy, DMR TG 1137550 and Allstar 41130
Anyone can listen only here www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/29437/web

If you don't have access to an Echolink/DMR/Allstar enabled repeater it's ok, many use the Echolink app.

Also if you are interested there is a Jeep podcast check out the Jeep Talk Show, two of the hosts are also hams.
