I have a 2004 grand cherokee with a 4.7 and the power steering was going out so I decided to just go with an O'Reilly power steering pump.

I put it back together and First it blew some of the power steering lines with the old school clamps underneath the upper radiator hose (Not sure which lines they are). Put good clamps on them and the jeep will start but not idle.

The power steering pump doesn't sound good either. Doesn't make any sense cuz all I did was the power steering pump and now it won't idle?

My best guess is the pump is so bad it's causing so much drag on the pulley that it kills the engine? Idk. As well I smell a little fuel when trying to start it. Very weird. Ran fine before btw

Might want to confirm part application. the 4.7L uses a special PS pump. IIRC the fan is hyd driven (PS fluid)

Not idling - poor idle - always start with cleaning IAC BUT it ran before pump SO I doubt it clogged with eng off .

did you disconnect battery? 'Might' need idle relearn
If NO then check for codes - even if CEL is off.

stock late model wheels/street tires with adapters, 7 in. stock type fender flares, 4 core rad/elec.fan, all LED lights, spray-in bed liner in cab, front home-made tow brackets for flat-tow
Also might check all vacuum lines and connectors you might have knocked off or broken if they are old as they become very brittle.
