I have come here in hope of some guidance on doing much the wrenching myself, if it is worth attempting that is. It was a gift for helping a family who had a house across on the beach but lived out of town. After 16 months they resold their house and gave me the YJ. When giving me it he warned me many times of the danger and let me know it isn't safe. I only hope to get it in safe shape and drive over to Ocala National Forrest with them one day. I look forward to your knowledge base and I fully understand the search feature before creating repeat topics. Here is a few pictures of her, I wont name it until I know i get to keep.

Welcome @YJ4moore ...nice looking YJ from the body side. Perhaps the previous owner designated the YJ to be unsafe due to the significant rust on the frame that has been treated (covered) but continuing to rust. Post some more problem rust areas for forum discussion.

Looks like you have something worth working on. Lots of frame repair parts for the YJ's available online. Nothing a little clean up and some plate steel won't fix. If you don't own one, time to buy a welder.
Looking forward to seeing photos of the progress.

The one reason i am considering repair is due to a friend who was a wielder on high pressure lines and boilers for 30+ years I will show him what may be required and go from there.
I look forward to being able to share some. I
