So, the last vehicle I purchased was a 2001 TJ back in 2002. She turned 20 this year and some POS stole her. I truly loved that vehicle, spent HOURS on forums learning how to wrench on it (Im a nerd and that was not in comfort zone at first). My kids grew up riding in it, doing the Jeep wave, and learning to drive in it. We took it over so many passes in CO and Utah. So now I have to get a new vehicle and I feel like I am back to square one. I found a 2018 JL I like but so many reviews are negative. Everything from the clutch, to welds, multiple recalls etc. So my question to those of you that are still up on all things Jeep... Is the JL a good option, and if so is this a decent deal?

Here are the specs from the seller...

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S
    $30,000
    83,702 miles

Jeep has been modded perfectly for an amazing look and off-road performance. Complements everywhere I go. Only selling because my Bronco will be ready in a few weeks. - Steel front and rear bumpers - Color match front recovery hooks - 12000 lb winch with remote and wired control. - Off-road lights - Rock rails - Lift kit - Mickey Thompson wheels on 33” tires. - CB radio - Factory integrated Alpine subwoofer - D-TOOLS all weather front and rear mats. - Color match dash - Tube doors (sold separately) Overall, the jeep is very well done.

    ...

Thanks in advance for any insight, and I apologize if this has been asked a lot, I did try to use the search.

I think a lot of the earlier issues on the first JLs have been worked out for the newer JLs and I wouldn’t have any hesitation on purchasing a new one. Now purchasing a used one that has been modded takes some extra research to make sure quality parts were used, how the Jeep has been used/abused etc. Perhaps getting the Jeep inspected by a trusted mechanic could identify any issues before you make the purchase. Jeeps tend to hold their value and sometimes the add-ons have dubious value that needs to be determined. Good luck on your purchase
