I’ve had problems with my 2016 Cherokee since basically purchase at 36,000 miles. I’ve taken it to dealerships and they’ve never been able to find anything, spark plugs replaced most recently but now I’m being told there’s a bad lifter in the engine.

has anyone else had this problem?

turns out there was bad communication

    A bad LIFTER

What symptoms? Ticking noise can be caused by a bad lash adjuster (hydraulic self adjusting lifter) or a bad rocker arm. There's no manual lash adjustment on them.
36,000 is low mileage to develop a lifter problem unless the previous owner let the oil get really dirty.
