First off I am new to the forum and have just acquired a 1979 Cj7. I just purchased new drag link assembly and tire rod assembly due to the old one having some play. I went to install today and the drag link tie rod end goes to far into the pitman arm (taper on pitman arm is to big for tie rod end). I am thinking I may may need a tapered bushing or sleeve for the Pitman arm. This was an issue on the old drag link I took off also which was part of the slop problem. The jeep is lifted so has a slight drop pitman arm installed. Just not sure about the taper size or bushing I need for the pitman arm? Any help would be appreciated.

Without knowing what parts are being utilized, it is difficult to suggest a solution. But I think I would be finding another pitman arm with the proper tapered hole and drop. That should be a Saginaw box if stock and there is a wide selection of pitman arms available.

Got it figured out. The Moog parts gurus got me a part number that worked.
