Im thinking about maybe swapping out my Dana 30 axels for the Dana 44's, but I want to know more about the perks of having the 44 vs the 30. Can anyone help with this? I off-read in the mountains more than anywhere but I also go to the desert.

    Thank You!

The housing for the Dana 30 and 44 are the same. Both Dana 30 and Dana 44 JK front axles share the same tubes, end forgings, knuckles and brakes. The Dana 44 has a larger differential and beefier shafts which have bigger joints and a greater spline count That pretty much wraps up the differences. :)

I thought the housing for the 44 was bigger than the 30 in order to house the bigger ring gear. The 44 runs bigger stronger hubs as well doesn't it?
