Replaced ignition cylinder

    2003 sleep Liberty
    I just replaced the ignition cylinder on 2003 jeep liberty and the "new" cylinder and key is in place. The vehicle starts but after a few seconds the vehicle dies! I put the old cylinder back in and everything runs fine. Anyone know why my car dies with the new cylinder?
