    1999 Wrangler
    Hi all,

I've been working on getting my 1999 Wrangler back on the road again. It's been brought to my attention that my 25 year old tires should probably be replaced. The stock tires are Goodyear 215/75r15, treadwear 340, traction grade a, temperature grade b, some other information that I don't know if you need.

I wanted to pick some more experienced Jeeper brains. This is really my first time shopping for tires.

I'm wondering if it is important to stay with the stock tires, or if something else would serve me better. I probably will not be off roading (at least not for a while). So far, this jeep has had light use around town, then sat for a while. It will be my main (a.k.a. only) car now, so it will be going farther. These tires handled fine in rain, I never liked it in snow, but I'm not an enthusiastic snow driver anyway. The stock tires are all season, and not off roaders anyway, right? This is the car I learned to drive in, so I feel confident around town, but am planning a 9 hour long trip across states.

Should I be looking into some different tires for highway use, or is matching the stock tires still the way to go?

I need to save money (like most of us these days), but cannot sacrifice safety. I am willing to pay for what I need, but how do I tell when I am paying for more than I need, and what would be going too cheap?

The advice I've gotten on this forum has really been a help so far, I really appreciate you guys a lot.

    Thanks
