So my 02 Wrangler SE ( yes I know poor little 4 banger) has been down for like 4-5 months with a broken carrier in the rear... I just got it fixed(30 spline chromoly axles and a grizzly locker) and drove it home yesterday about a 45 mile drive.. and the heater blows but I don't get any heat. Engine temp stayed right in the middle like it always has and the blender thing that goes from defrost to feet ECT doesn't seem to be working right either. Any one have any ideas about what may have gone wrong??

Same issue on my 98 Cherokee. My local mechanic flushed the core- $45 bucks and blows like a furnace now.

I believe that the controls that work the A/C controls, are run off a combination of 12v and vacuum. I had the vacuum come disconnected once up behind the dash. It could be the core like Threerun stated.

These colored tubes are actually hollow and transfer vacuum based on where the knob is positioned.

Yeah my controls worked- you could hear it activate across the range.

What was funny is that it was -20 in the mornings for almost a month straight, and my son would drive the Jeep daily all bundled up. We thought the heater 'just couldn't keep up'. Finally I decided to call the shop and he said usually a simple flush gets them working right. Sure enough- bam. Hotter than an oven even in sub zero temps, lol.

My son was pretty mad at me for letting him drive in an ice-box, lol.

Yeah idk if the controls are bad the fan speed works fine. But no heat and it seems to be having trouble switching between defrost and floor ECT... It all worked fine and blew like the Sahara when I parked it months ago after I blew up the rear end

That switching part is controlled by vacuum. Not sure how to troubleshoot that. Maybe disconnect the panel. Get a small piece of vacuum tubing with some butt connectors and try each tube individuallly. (Not sure if this would work) but If they all work then it's your switch panel. $100 for anew one.
