Hi guys, I was going to buy a jeep off a guy but it has an accelerator error light on the dash and it won’t accelerate properly he said. The price is 2 grand less then it was listed prior to the fault. I’ve called up jeep here in Australia an they charge 150 an hour to diagnose etc,
So I don’t know wether to go ahead or see this as a omen and avoid getting it? It sounds to have had a good life, no off-road just commuting and he’s regularly serviced it since owning it, the owner has got stuck on the other side of Australia due to covid. And the jeeps on this side. Also it’s got 255k kilometres on the clock, a little long in the tooth. Anything I should be wary of with such a vintage or no? He has the log books as well but it’s an hour drive away.

    what do you guys think?

I am not familiar with an accelerator error light, Just the various obd2 codes. Have you checked this with a code reader?

Not sure if I would consider any vehicle with an error light or check engine light that is not resolved. Why take on a known issue that has not been addressed. Sort of like buying someone else's problem. Buyer beware

Yeh it’s a bit of a worry, it was only because of the 2K price drop I was considering it. But if it needed a new engine or something I’d be stuffed.

Yup! So if you have already placed your bet, like purchased the vehicle, you can see what the dealers hand is. So maybe you should not have purchased it, if you did.

I just found a problem with mine and the idling and where the converters were clogged it had a bad map sensor which makes sense to me..

Pass on this- likely owner knows more than he's saying.
if inexpensive it would be repaired to geT top $.
