March 28, 2015. I have absolutely no cravings now. I quit drinking at the same time. Makes it a whole lot easier to quit smoking. My problem is not sugars or carbs. I eat balanced and don't believe in cutting carbs or vegan or protein only diets. My problem is I love to eat! A lot. CHEESE ! CHEESE ! CHEESE ! I drink mostly black coffee and water. Maybe have one Mexican coke a week (real sugar). The Triple meat Triple cheese burger with bacon and jalepenos from What-a-burger is my nemesis, but I have cut that back to once or twice a month.

I have given up drinking, smoking, nightlife and quit racing over 100mph on jet skis because my wife did not want me orphaning my 1yr old daughter at the time. Outside of family (more stressful than enjoyable) the only things in life I have that are enjoyable are sex, jeeping and food. I wont give those up.

Dude....i love a good hamburger. And that sounds like a REALLY good burger. We have Smash Burger here. And I just got a couple coupons in the mail. :hungry: . And I make a grilled cheese, with 2 cheeses. Sharp cheddar and and Provalone with hot sauce. I'm a cheese person too.

I still get a craving every now and then. But it's gone in a second or two. Which in the numerous other times I quit. I had a very hard time with. This time. Being in the hospital for 2 weeks, with what I was dealing with. I really didn't have time to think about it.

I don't beleive in diets. Excresize. Walking is a great way to stay in shape. Ok, I think I just climbed on that soapbox again. Ok...sorry..lol.

Not to make light of the situation or hijack this wonderful thread any further but as long as this thread remains active, on top and on the first page anyone spying on me surfing the net has asked: what forum are you on?? Definitely NSFW

Please quit NOW. Fifteen years ago my dad, who smoked since his teens, woke up barely able to breathe and thought he was dying. Turns out he only had bronchitis, but when you have limited lung function from smoking, apparently that's what it feels like. Ended up in the hospital and quit that day, which was great. But the sad part is that the damage was already done. He's now 76 and COPD has taken over his life. Little by little he's had to give up the things he loved: country line dancing, his Harley, car shows, even visiting his grandchildren. Now he's pretty much housebound, especially in the summer heat & humidity. He's got the newest, smallest portable oxygen machine, but even a short trip for groceries wipes him out for the day. He's only 5'8" but was always wiry and strong, about 160lbs. At his latest doctor's appointment he weighed in at 105 - yes, you read that right, and that was with clothes and shoes on. Even worse, THIS IS THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH HIM. I hate the thought of him having to ride this out to its awful conclusion, which is basically conscious suffocation. So now I've taken to making random comments to people buying cigarettes in 7-11, like, "I guess this is a bad time to tell you that my dad is tethered to an oxygen machine, huh?" I've gotten a few sideways looks but I've also gotten a few tearful hugs and thanks. So um, yeah...QUIT. On that cheery note, everyone, enjoy the weekend.

OH MY GOD snukulu. And I'm sorry for yelling. But....IF YOU SMOKE, YOU NEED TO QUIT. I do have OCPD. And thankfully not as bad as your Dad, which I couldn't even imagine. I wish you and your Dad the best. I struggle in the gym at times. But I push myself. It's not like I have an issue grocery shopping. I feel for him and wish him the best. I couldn't imagine what your Dad is dealing with.

I'm sorry to say this. But it did help me. Dying from smoking is never quick. And it is never painless. It is a slow very painful death. And the worst part. We inflict this pain on ourselves. I've seen 3 people in my life pass from the affects of smoking. And it wasn't pretty to say the least.

In my case. I needed to get a kick in the ass. And it did work. Watching what a video of the CABG X 3 surgery I was about to have. Changed my life. And altered my life. A decision I make every day. And I'm happy...no.....elated by the decision I made. I can't explain it. I feel fantastic about myself. I can't explain it. If your a smoker, and you wanna talk. Hit me up. I have no issues with being a shoulder to lean on, and a friend.
    Sorry..off my soap box. .

Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not a douche bag. Well, that could be debated. Lol. But we all make our own choices in life. And we have to live with those decisions and their end results. But, I do not judge people for their choices. Just support and try to help. Wanna talk. You know where trouble find me.
