Can anyone tell me an approximate selling price for a 2006 Jeep wrangler sport with a blown engine.
I want to sell this but not sure what the value would be....Thanks

Welcome! Have you thought about just replacing the engine?

    Hey Chris,
I am going to look into that, I have asked a few people about it and the cost is all over the board.

Welcome! If the body and frame are in great shape it should move quickly otherwise I'm envisioning an engine upgrade project

For a rebuild you should be around 3500. What motor/tranny do you have? How many miles on the jeep? Where do you live?

OUt here, used engines pulled from running Jeeps when an Engine swap was done, run around 1200 to 1500 compete. Might not be a bad option to look into?

LOL!! The 3.6 is running around 1500- 1800 compete, and many have under 20k miles!

Swapping the $1500 3.6 for a worn out 3.8 or 4.0 or 2.5 sounds like a great upgrade but I don't read much about it. The 3.6 should perform well in the lighter TJ YJ CJ but most threads on jeep forums post V8 conversions when upgrading the engine.

I just want to mention something. Ya'll keep talking 3.6 swap to a jeep that has an inline 6 or 4cyl. He has a 2006 if im not mistaken, and that is a TJ/LJ. It would be much more expensive to do this swap. You would be better off finding a low mileage motor of the same ilk or rebuilding the current one. The reason you don't see 3.6 swaps is because it is cheaper and easier to swap in a Magnum V8 to a TJ than any other motor and you get more power.

Then it's settled.....V8 power all the way. Skip the 3.6 and get the 5.7 LoL

Ya know what I love about this site. We love spending each others money.. Hahaha.

Only experience I have with swaps is when I changed the anti freeze in my XJ and didn't put the cap back on right. Ended up cooking the motor. Shop I brought it to dropped a remaned Jasper in it for almost 5k. Got 190k out of it.

So that's pretty much my input in this thread. So how many of you are sayin.....thank God. Hahaha. Yup....feelin the love. Lol. Hope it all works out for ya @Courtcrewmd . Some great members with awesome advice.

DD V8 JK cruising about getting similar or better mpg than the V6 is possible with gobs of torque in reserve.

Actually the Hemi is quite a bit harder to install. You have to get the computer and harness and make it talk to yours and all that. I am talking about the Dodge Magnum 5.9L v8 found in the 2006ish 1/2 ton dodge pickups. My buddy recently did this swap, and said it was very easy. The inline 6 harness works with 2 little changes. All you need are motor mounts and I believe an adapter to the tranny.

Good to know all the power options that are achievable as the Hemi is something to dream about.
