Our 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee had some type of electronic malfunction. Dealer charged us $1500 to take vehicle apart to find the problem. They say it needs a wire harness that JEEP has discontinued. Our options are to scrap this ten year old vehicle or locate part from junk yard or after market. I believe dealership tried to find it after market with no success. They did say that if part was located it would cost $4500. We are not able to do this repair ourselves. We contacted JEEP Corp. and they confirmed part is discontinued and would not do anything to help us. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome @TexGal61 ...too bad for your troubles and $1500 to tell you a bad wiring harness is the problem....:notsure:
Did they say which wire or wires are affected? Decent mechanic should be able to make some repairs unless it was burned or rodent damaged beyond repair. What are the symptoms or drivability issues and any CEL codes scanned?

We were actually given three different part numbers which made us think the dealership doesn’t really know what’s wrong. The part numbers are 68065800AA ( Injector harness that we’ve been told is discontinued), 68026383AC (headlamp to dash)and 6825731AE

While the vehicle was being driven, dashboard lights and indicator lights came on- low tire, low fuel, etc. There was a faint smell of smoke. You could drive it but dashboard was not working properly ie. speedometer, odometer, gear shift , etc. This is my 18 year old son’s vehicle. He had it towed to the dealership. They told us it would be $1500 to take apart to find the problem. Then they told us that it needed a wire harness but it was discontinued and so they could not make the repair. We were not given any CEL codes but if it might help I can call dealership tomorrow and try to get them. We contacted JEEP Corp. and they investigated for about ten days, confirmed that part was discontinued and there was nothing they could do. Thank you for your input.
