Welcome! The rated towing capacity will vary depending upon what options are on the GC. Engine, axle ratio, 4WD, tow package, etc are some of the criteria. Small pop up trailer probably fine.

Basic prep for the trip may include inspecting the condition of the tires, brakes, coolant, motor oil, transmission, air filter, etc. In general towing coupled with mountain terrain will add stress to the vehicle but driving safely with care will go a long way.
