Hello All. I have a 97 4.0 Wrangler that is giving us a fit. I parked it in the yard one day, and the next day it would not start. The gauges were all dead as well. It would turn over, but would not catch. I replaced the CPS, but this did not help.
So, I had it towed to a reputable shop. They decided it needed a new computer. The new computer did not fix the issue. They sent it back and got another. Still, it will not start. It has them stumped. I am beyond baffled.
Have any of you heard of such an issue?
It has 175k, but it looks and ran great.

As far as I know it is. The gauges don't work, so I think that is why they believe it is a computer. The problem is that even with a new computer it doesn't run. They are actually a reputable shop, but it has now been there a month.

Is it running yet? If so, what was the problem?
Our experience mirrors yours for our 1997 4.0L, 5 sp, except 2 shops involved. Got Jeep home from being at 2nd shop for over a month--thought computer, but did nothing to get replacement computer except give excuses as to ordering, not receiving, etc. Shipped ECM to Florida today for testing/repair if needed.
