I've had my CJ7 for over 20 years. I recently replaced the entire hydraulic clutch system ...master , slave and line. bled everything but I still only have about an inch travel close to the floor and it's to dangerous to drive. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem? I am stumped!!

Did you bench bleed the slave cylinder before you put it on?

Yes, I bench bled all prior to install then bled again.. even replaced the nylon bushing at the end of slave rod...I think by now there is three in the bell housing..lol I've been told by some to only push pedal down halfway some say push it down let it come back up quick.. I don't know.. just want to drive my baby again. might by a vacuum and try that.. any help appreciated!! Thanks

To bleed a hydraulic system I typically take a hose that fits snuggly over the nipple and run into a bottle with enough fluid to cover the end of the hose, crack the nipple open.....a little, not wide open. Slowly press the pedal and let it come up slowly, repeat while watching the bottle for bubbles and keep the reservoir topped off. It can take some time but it has worked well for me for both clutch and brakes.
