D flashing on gear shift

    2018 jeep cherokee
    2018 jeep cherokee. when i start to slow down at at stop. the car goes into neutral cant move, and drive ("D") on the gear shifter starts flashing. i have to turn the car off. then hit the start button a few times then it turns on. no dashboard indicators. my dealer wants $268 for a diagnostic. i was wondering if anyone had this happen to them?
