Engine dies while driving

    1999 Grand Cherokee - 98,000 miles 4.0L
    3 times for the last month the engine will just cut out while driving then I can restart with no problem, there seem to be no unusual conditions for this to happen, check engine lite does not come on - my scanner does not show a code - anyone with similar problem?

    I would check to make sure why and all vacuum lines are in good condition and not broken, disconnected, or cracked

    I had that ghost on an old Grand Cherokee. Happened all the time- especially when turning (odd). I replaced the fuel filter and the problem went away for a year or more.

    Then the ghost came back. Replaced the fuel filter again and it didn't help- at least not immediately. Then out of the blue the problem went away. It really irked me.

    If you don't get a check light when it happens. I'd try changing the crank shaft position sensor. Mine did that and once I replace the fuel filter n fuel pump n the sensor it hasn't given me any problems since
