Gas gauge

    My gas gauge hasn't been working in a while it moves from empty to full when I turn the car on but it stays at full, then it moves from full to empty when I turn the car off, it stays at full and I'm having to calculate my gas by the amount of miles I drive. You think this is a gauge problem or do I need to replace the fuel sending unit?

    tell us about yur jeep - year, model. etc.
    We can get a diagnostic plan for you...

    It will likely be a wiring or sending unit i doubt a gauge issue.

    It's a 1990 jeep wrangler yj 4.2L I6. 2 door. Sahara sub model.

    I think the tan wire to sender may be shored to ground, OR the sending unit in tank is bad, try unplugging and checking wire, volts, ohms, continuity, ground - then leave off see if gauge stays at E or F.
