Gauges going haywire, nothing electric works

    99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
    Went to start one day and all power went out. Nothing electric works, all gauges are going haywire and things inside are making clicking noses. Now I can turn the switch off and it still does it. I have to disconnect the battery to stop it. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

    I would clean the battery terminals, inspect the battery cables for corrosion at both ends, and make sure connections are tight at both ends.
    Electrical gremlins can be hard to chase down and something as simple as a loose connection can cause weird things in a computer controlled vehicle.

    Thanks for the welcome. I've checked ignition switch, brake, neutral switch and battery connections.
